How To Put On An Event At Typeronger
Typewronger runs a FREE events program, meaning all of our events are open to everyone, and we never charge for events. You can’t rent the shop out for a private event.
We are currently programming for September to run events on Wednesday evenings 7/7.30pm-8.30pm
Most of our events are poetry readings – we are open to other formats, but poetry is what we’re known for.
We amplify all our events with a PA system which also broadcasts to outside the shop. If you aren’t used to using microphones we’ll give you a steer on this before your event starts. Owing to staffing and setup that means there will not be anyone to introduce you – whoever’s on shift (Tee probably) will be wrangling the sound and social media.
We can occasionally hook you up with other poets to read with… but we need to know well in advance, and unless it was us who reached out to you (setting up a themed evening for instance) it will tend to fall to you to wrangle this sort of thing.
Poets/Authors/Performers should arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of the event.
Accessibility – please check out our accessibility page before pitching an event. Please note there is no toilet at Typewronger.
We’ll need you to write a blurb for the event, as well as providing us with images for our eventbrite. We will also publicise the event on our website and on our FB events page BUT – its up to you to be the driving force for getting the word out for your particular event! Remember to tag us on socials so we can repost.
We live stream our events on Instagram, we then post them as reels which remain in place overnight before being archived in the morning. This means folk can catch up with the event on the night, but after that it’s no longer available, though if you want clips we can send you files from the archive.
If you’ve read all this and want to put on an event please email tee@typewronger.com with all the necessary details including the pics and blurb!
