Volunteers
We are currently accepting applications to volunteer at Typewronger! Read on for more information on for more information on what volunteering here involves…

Types of Shift
We are currently looking to fill two types of shift –
Lunch cover and bookselling – regular days – 1pm-3pm
We particularly need cover on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, but we hope to have volunteers for every day of the week. Your duties would involve shelving books and dressing shelves, processing customer orders and using our till, covering a brief lunch break when the staffer on duty won’t be on the shop floor (but will be near at hand!) chatting with customers, recommending books, writing staff picks &c. You’ll have the opportunity to learn all about the world of bookselling and all the behind the scenes stuff going on in bookshops!
Events Setup and Takedown – dependant on when we have events, usually a three hour shift, though most of it is spent watching the event!
Our events usually run on Wednesday evenings, though they can happen any day of the week. We’re usually especially busy during August with the ALT Book Fringe. Duties involve setting out chairs, moving bookshop furniture, wrangling the PA and Instagram stream – then packing it all up again at the end! If you want to keep a close eye on the local poetry scene this could be the shift for you!
Perks & How To Apply
All volunteers get a special volunteer discount of 25%, a free Typewronger Deluxe Tote, and access to proofs and advance copies! To apply to be a volunteer please send an email to tee@typewronger.com with the word VOLUNTEER in caps in the subject line. We’ll need to know a little bit about you and why you want to volunteer, also what sort of shift you’d prefer and your weekly availability.
