Mission Statement
Typewronger CIC (Community Interest Company) is a not for profit social enterprise committed to fostering creativity within Edinburgh and further afield. We do this through running Typewronger Books, a bookshop selling new books, indie publications, zines and prints; and Typewronger Riso, our print studio.
The bookshop is at the heart of what we do – it’s a meeting place, a place to exchange ideas, discover authors and enter in the creative and literary life of the town. The shop was started in a police telephone box, and Advice & Assistance is still Obtainable Immediately.
A Free Events Program
We run a free program of events at the shop focussed mostly on poetry performance. We also run a number of book groups and our infamous Open Mic. Our events are often grass roots affairs, and we encourage people to come to us with their ideas for events, especially if they’ve never run one before.
Publishing Mentoring & Advice
Tee is a publishing mentor and is happy to give advice on how to go about self-publishing or setting up as a small press.
Print Services
Typewronger has a risograph studio – we can print your zines! We keep our prices as low as possible, and offer discounts to various local groups and charities.
Writers in Residence
We support two Writers in Residence every 6 months at the Typewronger Studio – more information can be found here.
