Christmas & New Year
Opening Hours
On Christmas Day we are open 1pm-4pm serving free vegan lentil soup! This is a tradition we started in lockdown when many folk got trapped on their own for Christmas owing to travel restrictions, and we used to camp out on the steps in front of the shop. Everyone is welcome, you don’t need to book or even buy a book.
On New Years Day we are also open 1pm-4pm serving our legendary Bloody Marys! For those who aren’t so big on alchohol we also do Virgin Marys (otherwise known as a Bloody Shame!) Again all this is FREE.
OTHERWISE IT’S BUSINESS AS USUAL – THIS SHOP DON’T STOP!

The last order date to be sure of getting a book sent out to you by Christmas day is:

(The last postage date for the UK is the 18th, so we’ll be putting in an order on the 16th for delivery and processing on the 17th/18th)

Gift Services
As always we run a full gift service where you can order any book you like sent wherever in the world it needs to go, giftwrapped, stamped and including a hand-typed note of your dictation. Please be aware that for international delivery it’s important to order as soon as possible. If you are unsure of what books a friend or loved one might enjoy (or indeed might have already) we recommend our Letters of Credit – hand typed and made up to any amount you care to name. Letters of credit include a free reading consultation which can be done in person, via email, zoom or telephone.
We offer free delivery within Edinburgh, and £3.85 standard postage on any size of parcel anywhere in the UK – and as always if you go over £30 we’ll give you free postage!
