Wrong Directions

Wrong Directions is a quarterly poetry publication printed by Typewronger Books. A single A3 sheet, it welcomes submissions of new and unpublished work. Though sold in store as a scroll, the new format can be folded to send through the post – check out this instagram reel to find out how!

Submission Guidlines:

  1. Submit one small thing done perfectly. Only one thing at a time. Don’t send more than 300 words total.
  2. Don’t bug me about your submission. If you get into the zine you’ll be informed and given the option of picking up your free contributor copy or having it delivered. All the information you need is on this page, so if you bug me you’ll get your submission binned. I’m ruthless AF.
  3. Contributors get a free contributor copy. As yet we don’t pay contributors (the percentage royalty being less than the cost of a free copy!) Copyright remains with our contributors.
  4. Don’t send me no love poems. I’m the most heartless editor on the planet.
  5. We’re a seasonal publication. If your poem is suited to a season other than the one we’re approaching, save it for then!
  6. Weird formatting… might just make it in. Then again, if you’ve ever seen how I try to squeeze as many things in as possible you’ll understand that formatting that makes your work easy to arrange with other pieces will improve its chances for inclusion.
  7. If you get in the zine you’ll be emailed to let you know. If not you just won’t hear anything. I don’t give feedback, in part due to lack of time, but also because there are plenty of excellent poems that won’t make it in because of the tetras game I have to play fitting everything on a single sheet. Don’t take it personally, and do resubmit!
  8. Our next issue is Summer 2025, submissions must be emailed to print@typewronger.com with the heading “Wrong Directions Summer 2025” and the deadline is Midnight 30/5/25
